The favorite starting points for trails in Cebu City are Talamban (North), Lahug - JY
Square (West) or Talisay (South). Talamban used to be a rural community but is
rapidly turning into an urban environment, with the Talamban Campus of the University
of San Carlos, a steadily growing number of upper-class residential areas
(‘subdivisions’) and mushrooming industrial and commercial centers. A good address
to get yourself a detailed map of Central Cebu is the Water Resources Center at
University of San Carlos (Talamban-Campus). Ask for Kabi Carabuena or Al Paqueo.
From the city center, the best way to get to Talamban is to head north past the Ayala
Center and Gaisano Country Mall (so called when it was still surrounded by paddy
fields and grazing buffaloes).
